DonorShepherd answers one question for a nonprofit's development office: **who should I contact this week, and what should I say?**

It is built for organisations with fewer than 500 donors — the ones where fundraising is one person's job among several, and where the

## What it does

- **Tracks donors and gifts.** Import from CSV, or add them by hand. Every gift is attached to a donor record with its date, amount and campaign.
- **Computes donor status automatically.** New, active, lapsing and lapsed are derived from giving history, not maintained by hand.
- **Runs a stewardship engine daily.** A set of rules decides who needs attention — a first-time donor who has not been thanked, a regular giver who has gone quiet, an anniversary worth marking.
- **Produces a weekly action queue.** A short, ordered list of people to contact, each with a reason.
- **Drafts the message.** Templates with merge fields, so the thank-you is written and personalised before you open it.
- **Reports on giving.** Retention, totals by period, and who lapsed.

## How it handles donor data
